Job Summary:
We are seeking a dynamic Hardware Development Lead to drive the creation of innovative wearable technology. This role offers a unique opportunity to develop cutting-edge brain-computer interface (BCI) devices. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in wearable electronics, a strong background in integrating hardware and software, and a passion for pioneering new technologies. Key Responsibilities:
- Overseeing wearable hardware development, both in house and with academic and industrial collaborators
- Working with a cross functional, interdisciplinary team to integrate hardware, software, nanoscience, data science, and regulatory to build new BCI technology
- Develop early prototypes of wearable hardware for demos
- Collaborating with external laboratories and CROs to develop electronics and firmware
- Working with regulatory personnel to ensure suitable safety guidelines are maintained
- Develop strategies for wearable device manufacture and scale up
- Build, operate, and manage internal electronics laboratories and workshops
- Grow and manage the hardware division and team within the company
- Work with legal counsel to grow the IP portfolio of the company.
- Promote scientific advances in the company through peer review publication and by speaking at conferences
Qualifications:
- Expertise in wearable electronics or bioelectronics. BCI experience a strong plus.
- Expertise in integrating hardware, software, and data processing to develop new technologies and products
- Knowledge of magnetic field generation, optics, lasers, and photodiodes
- Familiarity with biotech applications and medical devices
- Experience with industrial scale up of electronic devices
- Experience working in early stage startup or other small companies
- Collaboration experience with academic laboratories and CROs
- Management experience for development projects
- An excellent publication/patent history in bioelectronics, neurotech, or related fields
- An advanced degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineer, biotechnology, or a related field with 5+ years of relevant experience.
- A willingness to take on high risk, high reward challenges
